Takhayyul

Whether it is the Ben Youssef Madrasa of Marrakech, Bibi Khanum Mosque in Uzbekistan, the Taj Mahal in Agra, or the identity of our beloved heritage city, the Sidi Saiyyed Mosque in Ahmedabad. Two things you find are secular people who love the Islamic art that decorates the walls of these monuments, and the Islamic art itself.

Sometimes, we can’t help but wonder how painstakingly the artists would have worked on creating these decorations with such precision. This was reason enough for us to find a gem who is not only an artist who didn’t stop at being amused looking at this art, but also learned how to create it on paper himself.

We bring to you Burhannudin Ratlamwala, a young boy, resident of the heritage city of Ahmedabad who wishes to teach this rare art of Islamic Geometric pattern. We bring to you, TAKHAYYUL, urf imagination, a workshop that aims at bringing back the art of Islamic geometric painting and to help you have the walls of your home reflect the walls of Sidi Saiiyed through your own pieces.
